This abandoned car is NOT parked in front of 706 6th St. It is parked in front of 735 6th St. Where that error came from is beyond my ken.

This picture of the abandoned car parked in front of 635 6th St. will help VPD to find and identify it. Please tow it away. My neighborhood is not a junk yard. Thank you.

I talked to a VPD Watch Commander by phone today asking him to get this abandoned heap tagged so it can be hauled out of here. Folks need night time parking and this junk takes up two spaces for compact cars. No action yet.

Latest on this issue: The owner, who lives in this neighborhood, showed up today to move the subject vehicle. Apparently he became aware of his problem when he discovered the red tag on the windshield and then apparently tried to rip it off. I spoke to him while he was readying to move the car. I explained to him the car was illegally parked on a public street because it had no license tags. He looked at both ends of the car and said he didn't know the tags were gone. I also told him he is living in the city, signs of an abandoned car invite trouble. The car was parked over 12 inches from the curb - 1st sign of an abandoned car. Then the owner discovered the battery was missing - 2nd sign of an abandoned car. You know the rest of the story. The car is now gone, hopefully for good.
