Description
The development of the Hula project in the old Blodgett factory is a beautiful addition to our Lakeside neighborhood, but it has, as expected, substantially increased the traffic coming into the neighborhood. In the past, the only turn at the end of Lakeside Ave was left onto Central Ave (or you could go straight into the St. John's Club parking lot). Now there is a road coming into that intersection from the north, with cars coming from the parking lots behind Hula and from the Surf club. Parking is now allowed on both sides of Lakeside Avenue (in the past it was only on the south side), which has dangerously narrowed the roadway for passing cars, and making it difficult to see if there are cars entering the intersection from behind Hula. In short, it has become a busy, and sometimes dangerous intersection. A suggestion would be a stop sign for cars coming from behind Hula so they would stop and see if anyone was coming down Lakeside Avenue before pulling out.

There are currently no "Stop" signs at any of the 4 legs of thisintersection, which include 2 public streets and 2 driveways.
The Hula access to the intersection has been constructed per all local approvals, which did not require the installation of a Stop sign. Nevertheless, Hula plans on installing a Stop" bar and signage on the pavement. If additional safeguards are warranted at this intersection, it may be a good idea for someone to contact the City about installing stop signs at the terminus points @ Lakeside and Central Aves.
