This would be a good place for a barrier fence along side the parking lot, to prevent people from walking out from just anywhere.

I occasionally walk across 15th Street in the Cornerstone development (at a light-controlled intersection), during the "Walk" signal, and I find it dangerous to do so, even when I have the right-of-way. I walk quite quickly, but the Walk signal is on for a very short time, and there are also motorists trying to turn on to 15th who don't want to yield to pedestrians because they have a very short green light too. I hope the city will increase the time those lights are on in the very near future, especially with winter ice coming soon...

LOL, a fence. That will collect the garbage and make the place look like its always under constrruction. How about people just use the crosswalks, problem solved. If they can't be bothered to do that then its not your fault if you hit them, they are crossing when unsafe to do so.

with the devolpement of any new area there should be preperation for pedestrians the corner of 6th and 15th is a long walk for elderly or diasbled people there are not lights or crosswalks in that area for 9 blocks this also makes cossing street difficult for siast students the city truly does need to solve this problem

Yes, if a pedestrian crosses the road where there is no crosswalk or at a controlled intersection, they are jaywalking...but how is a person supposed to cross the road without jaywalking if there are no controlled intersections or crosswalk lines?

Okay, so I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed some days, but wouldn't this be better taken up with both your own city councillor and the councillor for Cornerstone area? Write or email them with your concerns. Maybe if enough people complain to the parties that can get stuff done, something will get done. At the very least, send a note to City Planning Dept.

Hey Peg, you're poppin up everywhere on this site. Do you work for the city or Canada Post? People don't write letters any more (when's the last time you saw a local letter in the Herald). See Click Fix is a great way to identify problems and see if anyone agrees there's a concern. If no one agrees, I guess it's not much of a problem. Trust me, city council lives on this site and if they don't then they're not in touch with the community.

Concerned, if you don't put a name and address to your complaint, the city isn't going to take it seriously. Posting on here may get their attention, but until you put something in writing addressed to City Hall, it's only cleared to 'rumour'. Most people don't even put their real names on their posts, never mind an address, so how are you going to guarantee that this is from a constituent?

Nope. If you want something concrete done, you have to put it in writing, addressed to City Hall. As far as I know, not everyone has a permanent Internet connection in the city, so writing a letter is still a viable alternative.

It's a free site, Concerned. I read. I pay attention. I listen. And I work for neither City Hall nor Canada Post. And I wouldn't know about the Herald. I don't subscribe to any newspaper. I get my information online. I send emails when I have an email address and letters when I only have a street address. I didn't think that was rocket science.

It's called thinning the herd. Something Prince Albert should seriously look at as a viable option. I'm not being fatalistic just making an obsetvation of the general foot traffic of this city.

Remember, Pedestrians have Right Of Way ONLY at marked Crosswalks and road intersections, whether marked or not.

so there are several places to cross, that Vehicles SHALL yield to Pedestrians.

but if a pedestrian in P.A. thinks that is going to happen all the time, they are going to get hurt.

the Law is worded such that the pedestrian shall make their intentions known, to allow vehicles ample time to slow and stop. it would be wrong for them to just walk out without notice.

but I routinely see pedestrains standing at a corner on 2nd Ave, waiting for traffic to stop, so they can cross, and they can wait a long time.
