Description
The purpose of this communication is to inform you of a perpetual illegal dumping problem in our neighborhood.
I live in North Vallejo at 136 Chapman Ct. My neighbors and I have become alarmed at the volume and frequency of illegal dumping occurring in the 200 block of Olympic. Currently someone has dumped what appears to be rotten fencing in the middle of the street in the 200 block of Olympic - this is in addition to child seats, a discarded flat screen television, and a host of other trash - also, this is in addition to the almost daily drip, drip, drip of smaller loads of household trash.
There is a "No Dumping" sign posted citing the City Ordnance but it has absolutely no effect what-so-ever on the perpetrators.
In discussion with members of our Neighborhood Watch we are all too embarrassed to invite visitors to our homes because our neighborhood has the look and feel of a THIRD WORLD neighborhood and as a retired military member who has travelled to three (3) continents and visited 21 countries I can attest first-hand to the accuracy of their sentiments.
Mr. Kenyon, as home owners and tax paying citizens of the City of Vallejo we deserve better treatment than we are receiving and look to the City of Vallejo for assistance and solutions to this very solvable problem - at one time Vallejo was touted as being the "The All Star City" but as of late the members of our neighborhood have witnessed a serious decline in the quality of services in general and customer service specifically from Vallejo city employees and it is truly saddening.
Although we reside in an older neighborhood there is absolutely no excuse for the City of Vallejo to ignore and allow our neighborhood to deteriorate. We are tax paying citizens and deserve better customer service than we are receiving - will you help us? If you are unable to assist us can you refer us to the person or department who can assist us?
We look forward to receiving your response.

Like you, I am a regular citizen in the neighborhood (living on 219 Linfield Dr) concerned about the pestering perpetual illegal dumping ocurring along Olympic Dr. between De Paul and Linfield, which grows incessantly everyday. I always report it, but it seems that there is inadequate service coming our way. If ever they would decide to address our issues, they selectively handle it by picking up ONLY big items, like TV, mattress, broken chairs & couches, leaving behind the stinking and some hazardous trash by the curb or under the trees/bushes. It's been more than two months and nothing has been done to address the problem completely. That old rotten fence that you mentioned is a road hazard....I nearly ran over it the first time it appeared "IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD". I am so upset, like you brother. This blight in our neighborhood has got to disappear. Oh, by the way, whenever I reported, I identified the spot as "500 BLOCK OF OLYMPIC DR." as opposed to your reported "Block 200" which is across Whitney Ave. So far, I haven't seen any any trash in that area.
Despite my mobility problem, I would be happy to be part of the Neighborhood Watch.

Now I am confused. I do not understand how this issue can be closed without any action having been taken by the City of Vallejo.
The rotten backyard fencing in the middle of the street, child seat(s), flat screen television set, household garbage and other debris is still sitting as reported, in the 200 Block of Olympic Drive - this is a health and safety problem.
1- we want to know when it will be removed and 2- we would like to have a discussion regarding possible solutions to this horrific problem - it has become progressively worse and we want a solution.
This is not a closed issue.

Thank you for your attention to this matter - the response that I received from the Vallejo City employee is exactly the kind of lackadaisical response that I am accustomed to receiving from the civil servents from City employees - it is totally unacceptable - just so we are understood, we want the trash in the 200 block of Olympic Drive removed AND we want to engage the City of Vallejo in a meaningful dialogue of how to address our concerns of keeping our community orderly and clean moving forward - no hidden agendas here and thanks for the pictures Vic!
