The City of Oakland Public Works Agency has received this issue. It is registered as service request # 499824. Please check back for status updates or contact us directly at (510) 615-5566.
This is very interesting to me. Wonderful app and way to interact with the community but it would be nice to get a completion date. I have noticed that some people claiming that there ticket has been closed without any action being taken or no action being taken fast enough. This might be something interesting news outlets should care to investigate. They can look into the response time, etc…
Rico, there are various reasons for something being considered "CLOSED". This particular issue has been previously reported and there is action pending. Obviously, it's a rather long story, but this item is not something that the Dept. of PUBLIC WORKS handles.
Usually, after being "acknowledged", if the issue is not among the responsibilities of Public Works, there will be an additional comment from Public Works that indicates the issue has been referred to another agency, such as Code Enforcement, or Animal Services, CalTrans, AC Transit, EBMUD, etc. They give a link that leads to a site that shows how to contact the pertinent agency, but unfortunately there are a couple of pitfalls with this approach:
1. The website itself isn't perfect; it sometimes requires extra effort to find things.
2. Often there is no further action (by the person reporting the problem) to contact the other agency.
3. The so-called "service request #" doesn't matter / doesn't mean that the other agency got a record of the
issue. Unless the "other agency" is actually contacted by ONE OF US, there's no way to follow up on the
matter.
Reminder: "The squeaky wheel gets the oil." Get familiar with "who takes care of what," what the process is, and above all, know who your City Council Rep. is and call or email his or her office when you feel like you don't know what else to do.
If I had look at this every day. I would be calling your council person rep, code enforcement, Alameda Environmental health and vector control. Every day as mentioned above. Remember they work for you this is why they are called PUBLIC SERVANTS. Call every day. Good Luck
