Coldspring & Light Rail Stat Nb Baltimore, Maryland - Hampden-Woodberry-Remington
The stated policy of the light rail trains is that bicycles are allowed on board and that level boarding platforms are provided for folks who are "unable to use the steps to board" (quoted from MTA's website)
On several occasions and by multiple train operators, when traveling with my heavily-laden bicycle, I have been refused access to the train via the level ramp, despite the stated policy of the light rail allowing this.
Additionally, my pregnant wife was denied access to the light rail level boarding platform with her bicycle. Her health care provider has advised her at 6 months pregnant to stop lifting heavy objects. She explained to the train operator that she was not allowed to lift heavy objects at this stage of pregnancy, and she was still denied access.
On all the occasions my wife or I were denied access to the train via the level boarding platform, we explained the situation to the operator and were still denied access.
The stated policy regarding the accessible ramp is not being adhered to by train operators.
