Description
The amount of flooding that occurs at Hilleary Park during a typical rainstorm is bad. A simple tractor to ensure the flow of water does not spill over and onto the the parks sidewalks would be all that is needed to clean up the area on the South end of the park. With the out of control mosquito problem Poway residents have noticed (Asain Tiger Mosquito), high water rates, and current drought situation throughout the State, this simple fix would help maintain the beauty of this park and keep the public health and aquatic life here happy.
Please look into this. I would be happy to meet with a representative and donate my time as needed to help in this effort. Thank you.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I understand your concern. Stormwater has a yearly permitted maintenance program from October to December that allows the city to clear evasive vegetation in and around the Hilleary Park area. This helps with both fire and hydrology. Hilleary Park is designed and planed to be in a flood zone and designed to flood during rain events. This is the reason for the large concrete channel along Wanesta and the spill way on the South end. Mosquitos are not just localized to this area. County Vector has stated that all through out the county mosquito issues are high for a variety of reasons. Stormwater crews have begun their maintenance of this area and should be finished by the end of the week. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at my office. Thank you
