Bicyclists scream "Me. Me. Me Me. Me." is not an Accessibility for Persons with Disabilities issue. Please recategorize this as a Self-Absorbed, Self-Important Selfish Privilege issue.
Aren’t there sidewalks on both sides of the street? All of us - abled, disabled, pedestrians, cyclists, motorists from time to time encounter obstacles and need to recognize that as a fact of life. Be flexible, not ornery.
The "obstacles" that you dismiss are both violations of Federal anti-discrimination law and part of a Systemic Pattern of Discrimination against the Members of a Protected Class.
The sidewalks on Edgewood are impassable (because the city ignores the alteration requirements of the ADA as a matter of policy. There is a report on here that shows a man jogging in the roadway on Edgewood because of it. There is no curb ramp on one side of a cross-street on Edgewood, so someone in a wheelchair couldn't get back on the sidewalk if it was traversable to someone in a wheelchair...,
Claiming that a bike lane is an accessibility feature on a street that is impassable to someone in a wheelchair is low - even for the self-important privileged "me,me,me,me,me" bicyclists of New Haven.
Parking enforcement personnel investigated this issue and found no vehicles in violation of city ordinance. We are closing this issue, but if the problem persists please generate a new request with verified information and details. Thank you for your help in this matter.
