With all due respect, the strategy of calling the police when you see it is one that has yielded little result. I need to hear the police's strategy, if for no other reason than to rebuild my confidence in the fact that they are reflecting on livable city concerns as well as major crimes.
They would be crazy to tell you their exact strategy on this site. It would ruin any element of surprise they had plan. I think most of us will agree that there has been a great improvement in this area.
"I think most of us will agree that there has been a great improvement in this area."
XYZ, what is your point? The problem is still happening, and a we want to keep it that way. These young adults, and adults alike (many of the folks caught last year were in their 20s and even 30s) choose not to follow any traffic laws. It's simple: don't speed or drive recklessly or drive illegal uninsured vehicles. It's a choice many of these folks don't want to make for themselves.
I agree with Fairhavener: what is the strategy to ensure this doesn't happen this Thursday April 2nd when it's supposed to be warm?
I think this is a classic example of the City thinking the citizenry has forgotten about this issue. We are all here to tell you that we have not! How can we? We have to put up with this dangerous behavior nearly every time we simply walk on the street in our own neighborhoods, get out of our cars with small children an groceries, or when we are stopped at traffic lights in major intersections and these irresponsible drivers take over the entire lane/street.
Please chime in here if you feel this issue is NOT over and you want it fixed once and for all!

You wrote," I need to hear the police's strategy, if for no other reason than to rebuild my confidence in the fact that they are reflecting on livable city concerns as well as major crimes". This why I wrote there has been an improvement. They have not forgot they have been involved with this in the heights recently.
I suggest you call your police district manager.
You also wrote, "I agree with Fairhavener: what is the strategy to ensure this doesn't happen this Thursday April 2nd when it's supposed to be warm". Are you agreeing with yourself?
XYZ: I think you are not picking up on the fact that there are two different posters with similar names.
However, I still don't understand your insistence on reminding everyone who posts here to call the NHPD or our District Manager; how do you know folks don't already do that? (I do, every time).
I think the people that do post here do so because they feel frustrated that most of the calls logged over the years have lead to very little action and from City leaders as a whole after the large confiscation that happened last year. This way I believe dirt bikers are getting the hint that things are back to business as usual and they could get away with it because no one is pay attention anymore, on the larger scale.
I tell people to call the police because this site is not monitor every minute of the day by the city. By the time something is seen it may be hours and then it is too late. As far as two different posters with similar names, here is one of your post,

I'm not sure that xyz will ever convince most clickfixers that it is simply enough to call the sitings into NHPD. And for some reason I don't think I'll ever convince him or her that clickfix is a very powerful tool to organize and advocate for quality of life issues in neighborhoods like Fair Haven. Be that as it may, we know that last summer was a much better summer due to the new law that allowed NHPD to confiscate the dirtbikes/ATVs and then demand over $1000 to release the bikes (effectively taking the dirtbikes/ATVs off the streets). The more information, be it through clickfix or direct calls to the police on the non-emergency line or photos of the riders and their bikes posted on line, we can provide, the more effective NHPD can police the bikes. And if NHPD seems hesitant to invest resources in this effort, then maybe its time for another round of "call city hall and complain." Few things get their attention like a bunch of citizens clogging up the telephone lines at city hall.

I would think twice about using your real name, but it is up to you. I am all for flooding city hall with phone calls. What phone number do you want to use?
203 946 8200 - mayor's receptionist, is a good place to start. The effort works best if a critical mass of people phone in with the same complaint in a short time span.
If you know where dirt bikes, quads and ATVs are garaged, report it to the New Haven Police Criminal Intel Unit. The officer in charge is:
Sergeant Karl Jacobson
New Haven Police Department
Criminal Intel Unit/Narcotics
One Union Ave, New Haven CT
phone: (203) 946-6098
Fax: (203) 946-6293
e-mail: kjacobson@newhavenct.net
He will respond to emails and calls. If you report a known ATV or dirt bike location to him, he will investigate and confiscate the machines.
SeeClickFix New Haven Nation, time to make some noise of our own. Spring has sprung and again dirtbikes are flying up and streets, through parks, and on sidewalks, terrorizing the city.
On April 28 (Thursday), give the mayor’s office (203 946-8200) to let her know that it’s time to track down the bikes and confiscate!! More calls equals more action and fewer dirtbikes on the streets!!
SCF Nation, call it in to the Mayor's Office tomorrow (4/28/16): 203 946 8200. Just tell whoever picks up the phone that you have a message for city hall: let's get the bikes off the streets!
We are closing this request due to its historic nature. If this concern still requires attention and you still believe SeeClickFix is a viable tool for its resolution the best way for it to be addressed is for you to create a new request including a current description of what is occurring and what solution you hope to see regarding this matter, citing/linking this request in the details. Thank you for your dedication to improving the quality of life in our community.

The neighborhood will get slammed tomorrow on this year's first 50+ degree day.
The vehicles will be out breaking all types of traffic laws and riding recklessly inside our parks where there are kids and families playing.
The only uncertainty is: will the Mayor and PD Chief be paying attention?
