There is a preliminary development plan , S-16-2011, for the property between the retirement community at 4801 Edwards Mill Rd and Crabtree Valley Ave that should address the sidewalk concerns in the area between the retirement community, the greenway and the mall. Once the plan is approved and construction on the proposed development is completed, Crabtree Valley Ave will be realigned to run between the retirement community and the adjacent property. This should provide a sidewalk connection to Creedmoor Rd which has a sidewalk that connects to the greenway and the mall.

S-16-2011 development plan was delayed indefinitely the last I heard. Is there an estimate on when this project might get started again? The neighborhood could use a sidewalk before 2020.

The approval process is active for this issue right now, but just because the plans get approved it does not necessarily indicate when the project will be constructed. I think we would like to wait to see what happens with this project, because there are currently way more sidewalk projects on the Council's priority list than resources to construct them. This one would likely end up as pretty much of a low priority because it would be substantially expensive for the public to construct, as the street would have to be improved with curb and gutter as well as sidewalk, and the project would likely cost millions.
