  • 7800 Ray Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Northwest
Large limb spontaneously fell into roadway at corner of Ray/Laurel Mtn. Pulled most from roadway but pile still on sidewalk will need to be sawed up for removal.
  • Laurel Mountain Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Northwest
The street sign at this intersection is very loose in the ground (perhaps struck by vehicle) -- so loose that it can be spun easily by hand. Photo shows it as was first encountered (Laurel Mtn labeled as Lookout Mtn and vice-versa). Post needs to be reinstalled in solid ground. The street signs themselves are somewhat bent and may require minor attention, as well.
  • 8009 New London Lane Raleigh, North Carolina - Northwest
The post of the 25mph speed limit sign has been twisted, making the sign difficult to see from the roadway. (Sign is pitched 75 degrees in from perpendicular.) Sign panel itself appears fine, but post is bent/twisted.
  • Shoulder vegetation encroachment Αναγνωρισμένο
3008 Howard Road Raleigh, North Carolina - Northwest
Vegetation completely blocks road shoulder and extends into the westbound driving lane. Location is Howard Road past N. Creek Run on right about a third of the way before stop sign at Ray Road.
  • 7910 Ray Rd Raleigh, North Carolina - Northwest
Downed tree from recent snowstorm blocking sidewalk on northbound side of Ray north of Knebworth. Note: this is different issue but near SCF issue south of Knebworth recently addressed.
  • 7729 Sandy Bottom Way Raleigh, North Carolina - Northwest
Trail leading from Lake Lynn Comm Ctr regularly overwashes, rendering pedestrian travel almost impassable. Photo taken 24+hrs after the last rain event.
  • 8100 Knebworth Court Raleigh, North Carolina - Northwest
City street sign at Ray/Knebworth knocked down by vehicle over the weekend. Photo taken 8:30am 7/28.
  • 1810a Generation Dr Raleigh, North Carolina - Six Forks
Dumping -- sofa and mattress in creek bed of Mine Creek, easily seen from the greenway side of the creek (line of site from an installed park bench on the trail). It appears to have been tossed down into the ravine from the far side (adjacent to Trails of North Hills apartment complex). Note: it's nearly impossible to spot the debris from the other side without knowing where to look because creek bed is well below grade of Generation Drive. So as the crow flies, walk toward creek from apartment A of Bldg 1810 -- it is closest to the point where the debris landed. Then look over the cliff edge. Even though it's visible from the trail, to get debris out, count on accessing it from the Generation Drive side of the ravine and be prepared to pull the items up a steep cliff.
  • Ray Road Raleigh, NC 27613, USA - Northwest
Deer carcass. Hit by car approx 10pm tonight, located at curb of Ray Rd north of intersection with Laurel Mountain Rd.
  • State Road 1826 Raleigh, North Carolina - Northwest
Several months ago after heavy rain, Ray road overwashed and caused the side of the culvert to wash out. Subsequent fix required a comprehensive repair of one side of Ray Road - new sidewalk/curb/gutter, backfill and riprap, etc. All that was completed quickly, but that was months ago. Still left behind are long, plastic mesh mulch bags used to control erosion. Not photographed here, but some remain properly installed (parallel to the sidewalk), but pic shows several others that were never used that still remain in a random pile next to the repair. It's unsightly and preventing that reclaimed land from grassing over naturally. Another bag was placed around the nearby gutter drain to control silt during the construction phase and is still there, but now all it does is dam and congest the drain. Please send crew to remove these.

  • 3200-3204 Watkins Glen Court Raleigh, NC - Northwest
Today is our solid waste pickup day. The city's garbage crew came by, but the recycling crew did not serve our street. Blue bins remain at the curb.
  • W/Nw Corner Of Laurel Mountain Road At Ray Road Raleigh, NC - Northwest
The curved corner section has a long stress crack through its middle, and where it meets the straight section of sidewalk that parallels Ray Road, there is 3"+ elevation difference. (Photos include a 12" ruler.) The area of mowing strip between sidewalk and curb along Ray appears to be sinking slowly (erosion due to a leak under curb into storm sewer?). Even if there is no underground structural problem, the large differential in sidewalk presents a tripping hazard for pedestrians and certain damage to bicycles that pass. This corner represents the only sidewalk route leading to Lake Lynn Park for residents of this phase of Stonehenge neighborhood, so it is a very well traveled route. Note: A similar concrete sidewalk situation exists directly across Laurel Mountain Road at the W/SW corner with Ray -- however, this sidewalk problem involving invasive tree roots is already marked with orange paint signifying a repair is planned there. It does not appear the opposite corner's sidewalk has received similar inspection.
  • Ray Road Raleigh, NC - Northwest
Problem area location is the sidewalk along Ray Road (east side of the north-south road) north of Knebworth Ct. A very long tangle of electrical wire surrounds an open utility box. Based on the Southern Bell label in the close-up view, it appears to be AT&T's box. No telling if the exposed wiring is live or represents a hazard, but the box cabinet appears to have been tampered with.
  • 8104 Andrea Ln Raleigh, NC - Northwest
Pedestrian access to Lake Lynn Park and its community center facilities is hampered by the sidewalk from park entrance not linking to the city sidewalk system just down the street. Along the west side of Ray Road (a generally north-south road), the northbound city sidewalk ends at Knebworth Ct. The walk from there to the park entrance requires a hike in the drainage ditch or on the busy roadway, itself. On the other side of Ray Road, the northbound sidewalk extends from Knebworth about halfway to Broad Street before suddenly dead-ending. [The primary photo shows this view looking north from the corner of Knebworth.] (Pedestrians using that side are forced to cross over a busy road with poor sight lines re fast-moving southbound traffic; once across, they too have to hike north along that ditch to reach the park entrance.) Lake Lynn Park is a popular destination for pedestrians and bike riders coming from Stonehenge on the Park, Parklyn, and Stonehenge, and the sidewalk gap makes for challenging access to the park except by motor vehicle. The sidewalk gap on the west side between where the sidewalk ends at Knebworth and the sidewalk at the park's entrance is the key segment... Can that sidewalk link be added?
  • 7925 Sutcliffe Dr Raleigh, NC - Northwest
[Note: This is a greenway path 'behind' Sutcliffe -- accessible from where the creek passes under Ray Road, ;not; from the neighborhood street.] This is the 'unpaved' portion of the greenway trail that follows along the creek from Ray to the paved trail leading to Lake Lynn Park's rec facility. The recent rainstorm created significant overwash, leaving lots of silt, standing water, and rutting along a long stretch of the path, making it nearly impassible by foot or bike until the standing water eventually subsides. (I see this stretch get periodic regrading attention after weather events, but IMHO there really needs to be a more permanent fix... It seems all the sand and material that gets hauled in to rebuild the path each time just gets washed into the tributaries by the next storm's flooding. Perhaps regrade again but pile a higher, more substantial berm along the south side of the creek that will keep the creek within its south bank.)
  • Watkins Glen Ct At Laurel Mtn Road Raleigh, NC - Northwest
Sometime between 9/4 and 9/6 someone apparently hit this stop sign, leaving it bent over. Sign probably salvageabe but needs new post.
