Thanks to the Hawk Island tri - Mt. Hope has been marked with hot pink paint. These are areas of concern to bicyclists, and start at Sycamore Creek to the city limits.
This is still an ongoing problem. Bike lanes on both sides of Mt. Hope have broken glass, bad pavement, maintenance work by BWL has very bad patches that lead to bicycles going way out into the motor vehicle lane to avoid. Cars and trucks use the bike lanes because the pavement is so bad where the cars should drive. Thanks, Virg.
Patching (skim coat) has occurred on much of Mount Hope BUT only the travel lanes for motorized vehicles. Random places have gotten chip seal, and in some cases in the bike lanes. The maintenance work done by BWL has not been repaired, and those places are very rough and must be ridden through if auto traffic doesn't permit moving to the smooth pavement.
