There is also a kitchen garbage bag of trash strewn in front of Westview Subdivision. I have not seen this in quite a while but yes, the entire area is getting bad again. Huntsville Utilities should be concerned about the group of homeless that sit on that transformer by the convenience store all of the time, too. That is where the shooting of a homeless person on that spot took place a while back . What if the bullet had hit the transformer? That is where they are dumping, too.

I am a neighbor of Patti, and together to try to make our neighborhood an safe and clean area. I totally agree with what she said. The homeless population in this area is growing again and something MUST be done about it. I would think that the convenience store where the homeless hang out would be concerned, but my gut thinking is that the management of the store is feeding the problem. I will pick up the trash that was thrown on Old Monrovia, as it is my property. This is an ongoing problem that cannot just be swept under the run. It must be addressed.

HPD will work with Community development regarding the trash and having a clean up notice issued to the property owner. They are a 30 day notice. We are working towards a resolution.

Thank you very much. It is not good for our neighborhood children to see all of that either and I'm sure it's a health hazard for them or anyone to be around. I see a lot of kids coming in and out of that store.

Thanks HPD. We are just concerned citizens trying to help make our wonderful city a place to be proud of. I’m not sure of the drawing card for the homeless gravitating to this area, but there must be an incentive.

Most definitely an effort was made to clean and clear this lot. But again it is littered and the homeless continue to hang out there and drink openly in public

I agree. Why can't they be taken to Mastin Lake Road where they moved tent city?
